So how about this...
Buy them toy animals to play with rather then toy soldiers? How about instead of Tranformers, you buy them some K'nex or other creative indoor toy? How about buying a video game that doesn't involve violence... a nice racing game for kids is nice. There ARE alternatives, so don't blow smoke like guns and fighting stuff is the only option for some people.
